Grinding
Grinding involves the removal of material from a workpiece using a rotating abrasive wheel that consists of abrasive particles acting as multiple, sharp cutting tools that remove layers of material to achieve a desired form and finish.
C-Hawk Technology
At C-Hawk, we strive for the highest standards of quality. In the semiconductor and medical device sectors, where even the smallest contamination can cause significant damage to components, we take extra precautions to ensure high-purity welding. To maintain a contaminant-free environment, we operate Class 100 clean rooms equipped with Orbital and Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding stations, ensuring the utmost care is taken in every aspect of our production process.
The Metal Machining Process
There are several critical steps to ensure the highest quality and precision:
- Material Selection: The process begins with selecting the material as required by the print for the component.
- Cutting and Shaping: The selected material is then cut and shaped using various machining techniques. Traditional methods like turning, drilling and grinding are employed for initial shaping, while advanced CNC machining is used for more complex and precise work.
- Surface Treatment: As required by the print after the initial shaping, the components undergo surface treatment processes to enhance their properties. This may include heat treatment to improve hardness and strength, as well as surface finishing techniques like polishing and coating to achieve the desired surface quality and appearance.
- Quality Control: Throughout the machining process, rigorous quality control measures are implemented to ensure the components meet the required specifications. This includes dimensional inspections, surface roughness measurements, and non-destructive testing methods like X-ray and ultrasonic testing.
- Assembly and Integration: Once the individual components are machined and inspected, they are assembled and integrated into larger systems or devices. This step may involve welding, brazing, or other joining techniques to create a complete assembly per print.
- Final Testing and Validation: The final step involves thorough testing and validation of the assembled components to ensure the assembly meets customer requirements.
